Where Do You Get Your Satisfaction?

By: Michael Harrison, Sat Dec 10th, 2005 12:41:39 PM

Satisfaction can come from various sources.

This thought struck me recently when discussing my company accounts with the chap who does them for me. We get together each year to review the situation and usually start with some general chat.

We had both done our stint in the corporate world before we established our own businesses, so we have a lot in common. We were talking generally about corporate life and the satisfaction we get from our own businesses. Harry made a comment relating to being employed that made me sit up.

(Article continued below)

A simple observation. He said, of people in employed positions, "they will never know the thrill or have the satisfaction of opening the mail and receiving payment for work they have carried out".

As I said it made me sit up because we went on to discuss how we have the satisfaction of getting the assignment in the first place, making sure we can do the work and executing the contract to the satisfaction of the client and ourselves.

We know when we receive payment we have fulfilled all that we had to and there are few feelings like it or which give such genuine satisfaction. All of that on top of receiving money.

If you have your own business you will know that great warm feeling. I have not had much of it for sometime now.

When I decided to develop business as a writer and publisher it was intentional in so much that I wanted to reduce my consulting activities, reduce travelling, time away from home and the like whilst still drawing on all of my experiences.

Consequently there has been a period of creation with not much payment. This is changing because the set up phase is now coming to an end.

This month I will start receiving cheques from Google. I will once again be experiencing the satisfaction that Harry and I so readily understand. My payments are from the Google Awords Advertisements that appear on my sites.

If you are building a site or at sometime in the future decide to create a site you to will be able to use Google Adwords to create part of your income.

The sooner you use Adwords the sooner the payment will come. No matter what stage you are at I recommend you become familiar with how Google Adwords can help you experience opening the mail as you receive your payment which you know that you deserve because it has come solely from your own creative efforts. Now that is real satisfaction.

Tip A year from today you may wish you had started today.

There is a lot more about Google Adwords on my site.
